Can I use my home office as a tax deduction?
To deduct your home office from your income taxes, you must not have an office elsewhere and the home office must be used solely for business. Part of a room can qualify if it is not also used for family or personal activities. For example, your desk and file cabinets in a portion of the family room can meet the "business area" test. Storage areas for products also qualify, as does a separate business structure on residential property.
